Dr. R. Aubrey Davis III, a leading authority on the intersection of technology, law, ethics and warfare, will present “STEM Without Borders: Inspiring Students for Global Impact Through Emerging Technology” at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in Thomas Hall, room 407, at Colby Community College.
The lecture marks the first public event for the Noyce CREST STEM Education Partnership. Dr. Davis is the Director of Law and Emerging Technology at the United States Air Force Academy’s Law, Technology, and Warfare Research Cell, where he also serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Law. His teaching and research focus on international law, space, cyberspace, and emerging technologies, including quantum information science, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology.
A U.S. Army veteran, Davis’s 32-year military career spans four continents in roles as an Army Aviation Officer, Intelligence Officer, and Judge Advocate. His professional experience includes leadership positions in cyber and space law, international operations, and national defense. He is a recipient of multiple honors, including the Space Operations Command Legal Office of the Year award and recognition as a nominee for the U.S. Air Forces Europe Outstanding Young Judge Advocate of the Year.
Davis holds a Juris Doctor from Gonzaga University, a Master of Laws in International Law from The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School, a Master of Arts in political science from the University of Montana, and a bachelor’s degree in German from Northern Michigan University.
