The Leadership/Presidential Scholars at Colby Community College are hosting a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Robert Burnett Student Union. Eligible donors aged 16 or older, in good health, and weighing at least 110 pounds are encouraged to donate blood to help meet the urgent need.

According to the American Red Cross, only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood annually, and the United States faces the lowest number of blood donors in two decades. Donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer.

All donors on Nov. 13 will receive a $10 e-gift card and automatic national entry for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards.

Appointments are encouraged and can be made by using the Red Cross app, visiting www.redcrossblood.org, or calling 1-800-REDCROSS (733-2767). Donors must present a photo ID or Red Cross Donor Card at check-in.
