The Leadership and Presidential Scholars at Colby Community College are hosting a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, February 13, in the Robert Burnett Student Union.
The country is experiencing a severe shortage in blood, especially O+, because severe winter weather has forced the cancellation of hundreds of events, resulting in thousands of donations going uncollected. Eligible donors aged 16 or older, in good health, and weighing at least 110 pounds are encouraged to donate blood to help meet the urgent need.
Those who donate on the 13th will receive a $20 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice.
Appointments are encouraged and can be made by visiting www.redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-REDCROSS (733-2767). A photo ID or Red Cross Donor Card is required at check-in.
