Library Databases

  • Credo Reference (Infobase)
    This database is encyclopedic in nature. It will provide background information and in- depth definitions of topics which can be used for providing background information in topics. This is a good database for introducing a topic, its origins and definitions. 
  • FirstSearch
    This database is helpful in locating dissertations, US Government publications, specific database, eBooks and some Open Access Content. It will allow you to Access World Cat worldwide-which may be helpful to online students. Username and Password information found on the "Log-in credentials" link. 
  • Gale Pages
    Within Gale Pages, you will find search engines for many products Gale offers our students. The most popular are the Human Anatomy interface, and Opposing Viewpoints. Additionally, there is Genealogy, Archives, literary index, E-books and Primary Sources. Opposing Viewpoints is used extensively in the English Department for Composition Classes.   • Newsbank
    Newsbank has partnerships with over 12,000 publishers worldwide to provide current events and archival information for research. Another tool useful for introduction of a topic, historical purposes and current news.  Username and Password information is found on the "log-in credentials" link. 
  • Ovid
    OVID nursing databases provide information from several of the top nursing journals in the industry. Full text articles with historical references available for research and online information release before print. A great resource for healthcare students from CNA to BSN. Username and Password information is found on the "log-in credentials" link. 
  • State of KS Online Resources
    This is a database provided by the State Library of Kansas. This database can be accessed anywhere a Kansas IP is available. . Within this database students can access different search engines for specific  research. Students can borrow eBooks, talking books and locate journals on this site. A good research tool for students.
Students who live out of state can get a Kansas Library Card free of charge from our library. The process is online and easy!  To get started, email library@colbycc.edu 
  • InfoBase
    This database has a video streaming collection for business and economics available for students. Other tools: Blooms Literature, Health reference, Science, World Almanac and Teacher Resources. Username and password information is found on the "log-in credentials" link. 

Access to databases is limited to CCC students.  Databases are available on campus using IP recognition.

Comprehensive Learning Center

Students who need help writing an essay, solving algebra problems or preparing for a test are encouraged to visit the Comprehensive Learning Center (CLC) in the H.F. Davis Library. Students will receive assistance from trained and certified peer tutors in the CLC at no cost!
