The Colby Community College music and drama department will perform the musical "The Wizard of Oz" at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 19, and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, in the Northwest Kansas Cultural Arts Center Frahm Theatre.

Based on L. Frank Baum's novel and the iconic 1939 film adaptation, the story follows young Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto after being swept away by a tornado from their Kansas farm to the magical Land of Oz. They embark on a quest to meet the Wizard, accompanied by a scarecrow who wants a brain, a tin man missing a heart, and a cowardly lion seeking courage. The Wizard asks them to bring him the Wicked Witch of the West's broom to earn his help.

Tickets can be purchased at the door. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students.

The show is expected to last about two and a half hours with an intermission. For more information, contact CCC Vocal Music Director Randy Berls at 460-5520 or randy.berls@colbycc.edu.
