  3. CCC Student Awarded Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

    Kyle Summers, a former student at Colby Community College, has been selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society as a 2014 Coca-Cola Leader of Promise Scholar.  Summers, a native of Shawnee, Kans., attended CCC in the 2013-14 academic year.  He was a member of the Trojan Men’s Basketball Team.  more...

  4. November Studio Friday Features Barbara Stevens

    Barbara Stevens, retired Head of the Art Department at Cloud County Community College, will be the featured artist at Studio Friday hosted by Colby Community College on Nov. 7.  Stevens will be teaching mixed media.  All needed supplies will be available in the art room.  Participants who have a favorite paint brush, picture or subject matter are encouraged to bring it to the event.  more...

    The featured artist for Studio Friday on Oct. 3 is Colby Community College Vice President of Academic Affairs Greg Nichols.  Studio Fridays, hosted by college art instructor Rebel Jay, are held the first Friday of each month.  The event will be held from 9 a.m.-12 noon and from 1-3 p.m. in Ferguson Hall, Rooms #502 and 503.  Nichols will be demonstrating the techniques to create stained glass works of art.  more...

    The Max Pickerill Lecture Series has announced the second speaker of the year is Michael Schwanke, anchor and investigative reporter at KWCH-12 in Wichita.  Schwanke anchors Eyewitness News at 5 p.m. and the 9 p.m. news on KSCW.   He is also a Fact Finder 12 Investigator.  The event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Cultural Arts Center located on the southeast corner of campus.  more...

  26. Director of Data Management Angel Morrison

    Colby Community College recently selected Angel Morrison to be the Director of Data Management.  Morrison, a native of Denver, began her duties on July 28.  Prior to accepting the job at CCC, Morrison was the Data Base Manager for Energy Outreach of Colorado which is a non-profit organization. Morrison managed the data base which tracked donations and produced program reports. more...

    Colby Community College has announced the Spring 2014 Honor Roll recipients. To earn a place on a CCC honor roll, students must earn 15 or more credit hours and have no failing grades.  The Dean’s Honor Roll includes students with grade point averages of 3.75-3.99.  The President’s Honor Roll includes only students with a perfect 4.0 GPA.  more...

  45. CCC Inducts 41 New Members to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

    Forty-one new members of the Rho Iota Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Colby Community College were inducted into the international honor society on Saturday, April 5.  Phi Theta Kappa is the largest Honor Society in American higher education with more than 1.5 million members and over 1,200 recognized chapters.  The primary purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship, learning and academic achievement among two-year college students. more...

  46. Wind Test Center Continues to Grow

    Construction activity was in high gear on April 1 at the High Plains Small Wind Test Center (HPSWTC) located 1.5 miles west of Colby Community College as three construction crews converged on the location.  Representatives of Pika Energy installed new equipment on their 2 kW wind turbine which has been undergoing testing since December 2013.  It is attached to a fiberglass monopole with a hub height of 57 feet.     Colby Community College has been chosen as one of the top 10 community colleges in the country according to Bankrate, Inc.  In a recent release by Bankrate, Inc., “CCC wins the accolade as one of the top community colleges because of its 10 to 1 student/faculty ratio, low in-state tuition, and the fact that 97 percent of full-time, first-time students receive some grant or scholarship aid.  In addition to getting a cost break, students also receive direct attention from their instructors.  Besides maintaining a low student/faculty ratio, Colby makes an effort to accommodate students who may not be able to make it to the main campus by offering courses through 24 locations spread throughout 14 surrounding countries. more...
