Retired Colby High School and Colby Community College art instructor Cal Mahin will be featured at Studio Friday on Feb. 5, in Ferguson Hall, rooms 502 and 503.

Mahin has been making art for over 40 years. He taught secondary art at Colby High for 35 years and CCC for 18 years. Collage and assemblage are his preferred media.

“We will be making tribal masks,” said CCC art instructor Rebel Jay. “All supplies will be provided at the studio, but if those attending have favorite scraps of paper, beads, bones, or other items, they can bring them.”

Mahin earned a B.A. from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and holds an M.S. from Fort Hays State University. He currently lives in Hays.

Studio Friday is held from 9 a.m.-noon and from 1-3 p.m. Area artists including high school students are invited to attend the presentation.
