Barbara Stevens, retired Head of the Art Department at Cloud County Community College, will be the featured artist at Studio Friday hosted by Colby Community College on Nov. 7.  Stevens will be teaching mixed media.  All needed supplies will be available in the art room.  Participants who have a favorite paint brush, picture or subject matter are encouraged to bring it to the event.

The event will be held from 9 a.m.–12 noon and from 1-3 p.m. in Ferguson Hall, Rooms #502 and #503.

Stevens began teaching full-time at Cloud in 1999.  She taught outreach classes for the college for 20 years prior to accepting the full-time position.

“I have taught students from 4 years of age through 84 years of age and enjoyed every age level,” said Stevens.  “I try to bring the gift of creative thinking and living to my students as well as the realization that the only limits in art are the ones they put on themselves.”

Stevens retired in May 2013.  Her works may be viewed at http://spiritstudio1.blogspot.com.

“I love reading, swimming, kayaking, walking, playing Native American flutes and spending time with my wonderful husband, sons and grandchildren,” said Stevens.

Studio Fridays are held the first Friday of each month

“If you know of someone with a unique or interesting talent, please contact me,” said Colby Community College Art Instructor Rebel Jay.  “Perhaps they will share their talents at one of the Friday sessions.”

There is to charge to participate.  For more information, contact Rebel Jay at 785.269.7065.
