Colby Community College psychology instructor Ryan Hale has scheduled two one-hour classes on Nov. 1 and Nov. 8.

Anger and Stress: Topics in Psychology will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Bedker Memorial Complex located on the southwest corner of campus.

“Stress and anger are pervasive in our world,” said Hale.  A response that was intended to help us survive, however, is now killing us.  Today scientists know that physiological changes due to stress and anger not only can change our health and well-being, it can also change us at molecular and genetic levels.”

The class will cover the response to stress, its effects on health and methods to mitigate the influence of stress and anger.

The Death and Dying class is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.  Topics include social and cultural issues, how people think about death, philosophy and attitudes, stages of death, dying and grief, being with the dying, Hospice Care, suicide, the rights of the dying, the afterlife and near-death experiences.

“Representatives of the Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Catholic faiths will share religious doctrine and cultural influences,” said Hale.

Students may contact the Registrar’s Office to enroll in the one-credit-hour classes.  For additional information, contact Hale at 785.460.5544.
