Colby Community College head women’s basketball coach Antowin Edwards and his staff have added three more student-athletes to the 2016 roster. Wichita South High School’s Alexis Beard, Dieonne White, and Naria Hall have signed national letters of intent.

At South Beard and White were part of four consecutive City League championships, four consecutive 6A sub-state championships and four consecutive Kansas 6A state championships. They were part of a program that became the first in class 6A to win four straight titles.

Beard, a 5’10” forward, was an honorable mention All-City League selection. “Alexis comes to us from a winning program,” Edwards said. “She understands what it means to work hard and her ability to shoot the long ball will help stretch the defense. She adds much needed size and toughness to this young roster.”

Hall is a 5’7” combo guard. In 2015 she earned All-City League honorable mention at Wichita Northwest High School. After transferring she became a valuable contributor to South’s fourth consecutive state title. “Naria is a super athletic guard that is a lock down defender,” said Edwards. Her ability to really sit down and guard should cause problems for our opponent’s guard play. She has the ability to shoot the long ball which will help us tremendously. Her defense and athleticism will add quickness and defensive aggression to our team.”

White, a 6’0” center, is a niece of South head coach Antwain Scales. “Dieonne is another player that comes to us from a winning program,” Edwards added. “She understands the definition of hard work and will add more interior toughness and strength, which were weaknesses last season.”
