For the first time in several years, Colby Community College is hosting a Homecoming/Family Weekend November 11-12. The event will be held in conjunction with the Ambassador Classic Basketball Tournament. Activities are scheduled at the Community Building, the College Farm and on the CCC campus.

For the first time in several years, Colby Community College is hosting a Homecoming/Family Weekend November 11-12. The event will be held in conjunction with the Ambassador Classic Basketball Tournament. Activities are scheduled at the Community Building, the College Farm and on the CCC campus.

Friday, Nov. 11, has been designated as CCC Pride Day. Everyone is encouraged to wear CCC apparel to show their Trojan pride. In addition to the women’s and men’s basketball games which begin at 5 p.m. at the Community Building, there will be an open house at the College Farm from 4-6 p.m. followed by a free barbecue at 6 p.m. Tours of the equestrian facilities will be provided by students at the farm. Tours of the agriculture/vet tech building will be held on campus from 2:30-5:00 p.m.

In honor of Veterans’ Day on Nov. 11, mini-flags will be distributed to everyone who attends the basketball games. Patriotic pins will be distributed to all veterans, various patriotic items will be given away during the games and all veterans will be recognized at the halftimes of the men’s and women’s games. The Circle K Club at the college will have a donation box available for care package items to be sent to members of the military.

CCC Band Director Tony Schroer has invited alums to play in the Trojan Pep Band during the games. Members of all CCC teams from the years 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011 will be recognized during half times of the games.

Homecoming candidates will be introduced between the men’s and women’s games on Friday evening. CCC President Dr. Stephen Vacik will be crowning the Homecoming King and Queen.

CCC art instructor Rebel Jay has created a Homecoming t-shirt which will be available to purchase at the Community Building and the Student Union.

The opening day of pheasant season begins Saturday, and Foundation Executive Director Nick Wells will be oprganizing a hunt from 6-10 a.m. Participants should meet at the Student Union at 6 a.m. Campus tours will be available from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday and everyone is invited to a free lunch in the Student Union from 12 noon-1 p.m. Holiday lights utilizing solar power will be illuminating the campus beginning Nov. 11.

Basketball games begin at 5 p.m. again on Saturday afternoon. Athletic Director Ryan Sturdy invites all alums and family members to visit the Hospitality Suite in the Community Building on Friday and Saturday.
