Conference streak at ten for volleyball

Monday the Colby Community College Lady Trojans volleyball team ran their Jayhawk Conference win streak to ten with another three-set sweep, this time at the expense of the Conquistadors in Dodge City, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-22.

Once again Colby enjoyed success serving by piling up 12 aces. Sophomore Aleksandra Malek had four of them while also adding 15 kills and eight digs. Sophomores Singryd Valladares and Laura Funk each added nine kills and sophomore Maja Jankovic had a game-high 13 digs.

Colby has not lost a Jayhawk Conference match since Aug. 23 when they came up short in a five-set battle with defending Region VI champion Hutchinson. Their current streak includes 21 straight set victories.

The Lady Trojans are 19-4 overall and 10-1 in the conference. Wednesday they host red-hot Barton County (21-5, 8-3), winners of five straight. Game time is 6:30 p.m. at the Colby Community Building
