Six of the seven Colby Community College business students attending the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) State Leadership Conference at Fort Hays State University Feb. 13-14 qualified for national competition this summer in Chicago.

Students competed against eight other colleges to earn their places at the National Leadership Conference June 23-28. Kassandra Baker (Leoti, Kan.), took second in word processing; Dylan Schlegel (Ness City), placed second in network concepts and third in computer concepts; Abigayil Russ (Colby), was first in accounting analysis and decision making, and also second in accounting for professionals; and Ruth Hair (Brownell), finished second in information management. In team events, Taylor Crain (Niotaze) and Megan Doctor (Russell) took second in business law.

Phi Beta Lambda is a nonprofit education association that prepares students for careers in business and business-related fields. The national qualifiers are raising funds to offset travel expenses.
