Colby Community College athletics are transitioning from fall to winter sports. The following is a brief recap of the events from the week of Nov. 2:

Volleyball

Wednesday the CCC volleyball team saw their season come to a close in the first round of the Region VI playoffs in Pratt, coming up just short in a five-set battle with the Lady Beavers, 21-25, 25-9, 24-26, 25-16, 13-15.

Though Colby and Pratt finished the regular season tied for fourth place with 10-6 conference records, the Lady Beavers hosted the opening round game because of two previous head-to-head wins.

Overall, the Lady Trojans finish with a record of 14-19.

The Trojan men’s basketball team won two out of three games in the Colby Ambassador Basketball Classic Nov. 5-7 with convincing wins over the Sterling College JV (88-62) and Colorado Northwestern (89-60).  Saturday CCC took a hard-fought loss to Lamar, 85-82.

The Trojans are 4-1 on the young season. They host Northwest Technical College Nov. 10 at 8 p.m.

After a road loss to the Kansas Wesleyan JV on Nov. 2, the Lady Trojans bounced back and took two out of three in the Colby Ambassador Basketball Classic Nov. 5-7. A loss to preseason No. 25 Western Nebraska on Friday was in between wins against the Tabor JV Thursday (56-47) and Hesston on Saturday (63-58).

Colby takes their 2-2 record into a home game Nov. 12 against Kansas Wesleyan. Game time is 6 p.m.
