UPDATE: The April 30 blood drive as been canceled. However, area donors are encouraged to give for the drive at the Colby Community Building on May 6-7. Appointments can be made by calling 1-800 RED CROSS or visiting and enter zip code 67701.

The Colby Community College blood drive on April 30 has changed locations to the Colby Methodist Church at 950 Franklin Ave. The drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

The American Red Cross is closely monitoring the outbreak of the coronavirus disease. Right now, America is facing a severe blood shortage due to the number of blood drive cancellations during the outbreak. The organization emphasizes that the process of giving blood is safe, and donating now is an important step to ensure there is not another national health care crisis on top of the current pandemic.

To donate blood, a person must be in general good health and feeling well, be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.  Donors must present identification at registration in the form of a Red Cross donor card, a valid driver's license or other official photo identification.

Donors on April 30 receive a $5 Amazon gift card. Appointments can be made by calling 1-800 RED CROSS or visit and enter sponsor code "ColbyCC."
