Cross country fans will have their only chance to see the Trojan runners at home on Friday, Aug. 31. The Colby Trojan Invitational on the CCC campus begins with the women's contest at 5 p.m. followed by the men at 5:30.

Before the competition begins, the Trojans will host a kids fun run at 4:30 p.m.

“An addition to our only home meet of the season is a 400 and 800-meter kids fun run for preschool through middle school ages,” said Trojans head coach Cameron Rieth. “The run is free to anybody willing and able to run! Participants can enjoy popsicles and ice cream afterward, and we encourage them to stick around and watch the college races.”

More information on the kids run is available by contacting Rieth at cameron.rieth@colbycc.edu or Coach Joey Villarreal at joey.villarreal@colbycc.edu.

Entering the Aug. 31 meet the Trojans look to continue their momentum from a successful 2017 season. The women took first and the men placed second at the Region VI Championships and each team also captured the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference western division title. Rieth was named Women's NJCAA Central Region Coach of the Year, Region VI Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year and Region VI Coach of the Champions.
