Colby Community College volleyball fans will have an opportunity to support two causes at Saturday’s home match with Pratt.

Admission to the 2 p.m. contest at the Community Building is a non-perishable item for the CCC food pantry. In addition, the team is accepting new socks for the Campus Bookstore’s “Socktober” event that benefits deployed service members and veterans in VA hospitals.

The pantry opened at the beginning of the semester to assist students in need. According to organizers, some of the popular items are boxed meals, canned soups, crackers, pasta, applesauce, cereal, trail mix, and oatmeal.

Socks collected at the game will go to the non-profit Soldiers’ Angels organization, which has been supporting service members for 15 years. Socks can be any style or color in the original packaging.

On the court, the Trojans look to continue their best start since joining the Jayhawk Conference. Ranked 18th nationally, CCC is 17-1 overall with an 8-1 conference record.
