Why Register?

There are numerous advantages and privileges granter to those organizations who register their organization. They include:

  • Opportunity to request funds from SGA
  • Opportunity to participate in workshops and programs
  • Assistance with fundraising activities
  • Web space
  • Poster route, marketing
  • Opportunity to be recognized at the annual Student Organization Awards Reception

Registration Process

To register an organization, the members must meet college requirements, fill out appropriate documents and attend the student organization meeting every fall. Requirements include:

  • Organization must have a minimum of three members to start.
  • At least 75% of members must be Colby Community College students.
  • Groups may not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, citizenship, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression except that a) an organization created primarily for religious purposes may restrict the right to vote or hold office to persons who subscribe to the organization's state of faith; and b) an organization may restrict membership based on provisions of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972
  • An organization must abide by all college policies, campus regulations, federal, state, and local laws
  • An organization must maintain a current copy of the organization's constitution and organization roster in the Campus Life office
  • An organization must have an advisor who is a full-time member of the Colby Community College faculty, staff, or administration

New Organizations

  • Inquire in the Campus Life office about the possibility and advisability of establishing a new organization
  • Secure a member of the Colby Community College faculty, staff, or administration who will serve as advisor to the organization
  • Hold an interest meeting to attract students who might join the organization
  • Submit a New Student Organization Registration Application (found above)
  • Submit a constitution and by-laws under which the organization will operate
  • Submit an alphabetized membership list of the organization members

Existing Organizations

The Residence and Campus Life office reviews the registration of organizations every year during the fall semester. In order to reregister your organization you must submit:

  • Completed Student Organization Registration Application (found above)
  • Alphabetized membership list of all the organization's members
  • Changes to your constitution and by-laws
