College Offers Free Documentary Film: “The Startup Kids”
The documentary film The Startup Kids is scheduled to be shown on Tuesday, April 15, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Colby Community College Cultural Arts Center.
The Startup Kids is a documentary about young web entrepreneurs in the United States and Europe. It contains interviews with the founders of Vimeo, Soundcloud, Kiip, InDinero, Dropbox, Foodspotting and many others who talk about how they started their company and their lives as entrepreneurs. The movie is made by two Icelandic entrepreneurs, Vala Halldorsdottir and Sesselja Vilhjalmsdottir, who founded their first company shortly after the economic collapse of Iceland and wanted to motivate other young people to become entrepreneurs.
“There are a growing number of young entrepreneurs in the web and tech industries that are able to tell others how they succeeded when everyone said it was impossible,” said CCC instructor Ryan Hale. “Technology has opened doors for young people to start companies without previous access to funding and resources. If you have a computer and an Internet connection, you can start a business.”
There is no charge to attend the screening of this film. For more information, contact Hale at 460-5544.
