FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How soon can I get into the program?
The average wait time to get into the dental hygiene program is two years.

How many students do you accept each year?  How many applicants do you have?
We accept twelve students each year.  We have had over 800 inquiries about our program. Many of these students are still working on their requirements and have not been put on the waiting list.

When, where and how do I take an admissions test if my ACT scores are out dated?
Make sure you need to take the test.  If your ACT scores are high enough and they have been taken within the last five years, you will not need to take this test.  If you choose not to retake the ACT test, you can call the college of your choice to see if they offer an admissions test.  If they do, find out which one they offer.  You will need to call Northcentral Technical College to verify that they will accept it.  Their phone number is 715-675-3331 ext. 4014.  They have the acceptable scores on file.  You will need to ask them what scores have to be achieved for the particular test you are taking.

If I haven't scored high enough on my ACT/admissions test, and I don't have an Associates Degree or a Bachelors Degree, can I still be accepted into the program?
Yes, you can still be accepted into the program.  However, you will need to take some remedial classes in the subjects you scored low in.  You need to earn a "C" or better in these classes.  You will need to provide transcripts to our department to prove you have taken these classes.

What transcripts do I need to send?
You should request two transcripts from your high school and any post-secondary schools where you have taken classes.  You will need to highlight the chemistry classes that you have taken. These can be unofficial transcripts.  You will be asked to provide official copies of your transcripts once you have been accepted into the program.

What number am I on the list?
It is difficult to give you your exact position.  This number can change frequently because applicants change their minds about entering into the CCC program for many reasons.  Some are accepted into other schools, some get married and move away, and some may have other circumstances that do not allow them to enter the program at the time they are accepted.  You will move up on the waiting list when someone ahead of you drops out.

My friend and I applied at the same time, why is she higher on the waiting list than me?
We accept our applicants by the date of the postmark their completed portfolio was received.  If your portfolio is incomplete and we have to return it to you, your date will reflect the postmark when your portfolio was complete.  This could be one of the reasons.

How will I know if I am on the waiting list?
As soon as we receive your completed portfolio, your name will be put on the list.  You will receive a letter stating your position on the waiting list.

What is taught over ITV and what is taught on the Colby campus?
Lecture classes are taught over ITV from Wisconsin.  These are live lectures, not videotapes.  All lab facilitation is done on the Colby campus.  Clinic work is done on the Colby campus.  You never have to travel to Wisconsin.

Do I have to pay out-of-state tuition for the NTC classes?
No, you do not.  Wisconsin will bill you for the hours you take from them.  You will pay the same tuition the NTC students pay.  Colby Community College will bill you for the hours you take from them.  You will pay the same tuition the CCC students pay.

Will I be able to be a full-time student to quality for financial aid?
You will be able to add the NTC and the CCC credits together to qualify for financial aid.  For example:  if you are taking 8 hours from CCC and 4 hours from NTC, you will be considered a full-time student because you will be enrolled in 12 hours for the semester.
