Raymond Velazquez, a sophomore from San Antonio, Tex., was recently notified he has been accepted to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York for the 2012-13 school year.

“I applied to about 40 schools for next year,” said Velazquez.  “However, Cornell was the one I really wanted to attend.  I’ll major in chemistry and will be a member of the track team.”

Velazquez is currently enrolled in 28 hours at CCC.  Last summer he was selected to serve as a Research Experience Undergraduate at Kansas State University for 10 weeks.

“I was recruited by Coach James Ortiz to attend CCC and run for the Trojans,” said Velazquez.  “Without him, I probably wouldn’t even be in college.”
