I am very excited about this year's group! We are a mix of young talent and some very talented returners in the lineup. We return five national qualifiers, three who were All Americans and two who were national runners-up. We are anticipating that the returners will lead this young, but very talented group, into action. Calvin Ochs from Hoxie will be back healthy and hungrier than ever leading the charge after losing in the national finals. Jared Johnson, another finalist who fell short at nationals, will bring talent and success to this season. Hunter Price, a young man from Holton, is a returning All-American hoping to improve on his 8th-place finish after spending most of last year battling injuries.
This year's freshman class is loaded with talent. Led by the former Bonner Springs stand-out Josiah Seaton, who represented Team USA at the world championships this past summer in Croatia, is a highly-touted recruit who has won all over the country, and was a high school All-American. Also in the freshman class, Gavin Grater is a highly-recruited young man from Green, KS. Gavin was a two-time state runner-up as well as being a high school All-American. Another freshman who could make an immediate impact is John Peeden, Goodland, who had a very successful high school career. We will look for big things from Byron Vaughn of Omaha, NE, who was also very successful at the high school level. Two local athletes with great talent who could step in and do great things are Zell Bieberle and Beau Brown, both of Colby.
