The Colby Community College Women’s Track and Field Team finished their season May 16-17 at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Mesa, Arizona.
“Taking six freshman girls to the National meet, I knew this was going to be a great experience for these ladies,” said Head Coach Crystal Berndt. “We didn’t have the best weekend, but considering the age of the team I am pleased they got the chance to experience the National meet and be ready for next spring.”
The women’s 4x8 started the Lady Trojans off with Trizer Wangari, Dolvine Serem, Haylie Montoya, and Kelsey Wilson finishing 14th in the nation. Jamie Wright finished 15th in the nation with a throw of 108-06. In the 100 Hurdles Wilson finished 17th with a time of 15.19. Serem finished 15th in the Steeple Chase, beating the Region VI champion with a time of 13:11.22.
“The Lady Trojans Track Team has 10 freshmen returning in the fall, and I can’t wait to see what these ladies will do next season!” said Coach Berndt.
