Crystal Berndt begins her eighth season as the Lady Trojan Cross Country /Track & Field head coach with much excitement & anticipation for the upcoming season. In her eight years at Colby Community College, she has coached two National Champions, 12 All-Americans, 60 Academic All-Americans, and her teams have set 14 new school records. In 2012, the cross country team finished as KJCCC Champions -- a title that was held by Butler Community College for eight consecutive years before the Lady Trojans captured the title.
Berndt served as assistant track coach at Colby Community College for two years prior to being selected as the head coach. She also coached at Oakley High School from 1999-2007, assisting with cross country and track & field. In addition, Berndt was head middle school track coach. In 2005 she helped coach the first team in Oakley’s history to win the cross country state championship.
Berndt was a standout runner at Colby Community College where she was a four-time NJCAA All-American in 1996-1998. She was one of six ladies to make it to the National Championship. The team placed second in the nation in indoor and third in the nation in outdoor competitions. She is the current record-holder at Colby Community College in the 100-meter hurdles, pentathlon and heptathlon.
Berndt grew up in Oakley where she ran cross country and track & field. She qualified for state cross country and track her junior and senior years.
Berndt lives in Colby with her husband Dallas. They have two children--Cassie 15 and Peyton 6.
