The Trojan men enter the 2013-14 seasons with high expectations after an historic season last year. In 2012-13 academic year, the Trojans finished as Cross Country Region VI Champions, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Region VI Runner-Ups and top 10 nationally for all running sports (4th cross country, 10th indoor track & field and 8th outdoor track & field). “We have always had high expectations for ourselves. We teach our student-athletes not settle for mediocrity.” stated Head Coach James Ortiz “After a successful year like last year, I’m sure other programs have put a target on our backs but we will be ready.”
The Trojans graduated a sophomore class that included four Trojans who signed with NCAA Division-I universities. The Trojans also lost 10,000 meter national champion and national runner-up Juan Pacheco and Peter Koskey to four year universities. “It’s great graduating these young men and seeing them continuing their education but it’s always difficult replacing them. This incoming recruiting class has the potential to continue sending this program in the right direction.” The Trojans added 16 new student-athletes to the Track and Cross Country rosters for 2013-14.
