Orientation

New Students

New Student Orientation is a requirement for first-time, full-time students. It is an opportunity to begin the college experience with one of the most important events of a student's academic career.  The first week of classes will be packed with activities to make friends, meet the faculty and staff, listen to nationally-recognized speakers, and become familiar with campus resources.  

Friday, August 15

Airport Pick-up, 10:00 am-2:00 pm

Students may fly into Denver International Airport from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Faculty and staff will greet students at the airport and will pick-up students at each terminal. The bus will arrive in Colby around 7:00 p.m. Please send flight information to charles.keefer@colbycc.edu.

 

Saturday, August 16

Buy textbooks and supplies at the campus bookstore.

Residence Hall Move-In, 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Room assignments and information will be sent by email to individual students. Move in will be conducted by the first letter of your last name based on the times listed.
A-G: 8:00-10:00 am
H-M: 10:00 am-12:00 pm
N-S: 1:00-3:00 pm
T-Z: 3:00-5:00 pm

Offices Open, 10:00 am-5:00 pm

Financial Aid, Bookstore, Student Accounts, Admissions, Registrar, IT, Student Services and Student Health

Student ID, 10:00 am -4:00 pm

The library will be open to issue student ID’s during this time.

Campus Tours, 10:00-11:00 am

If you have not been on a campus tour and would like one, please come to the Admissions Office at this time.

Pancake feed for the students.

Cafeteria Opens, 10:30 am-12:30 pm

All students living in the residence halls are welcome to join us in the cafeteria for brunch. Anyone not on the meal plan can enjoy a meal for only $5.30 per person.

Enrollment, 10:00 am-3:00 pm

If you are not currently enrolled in classes, please report to the Admissions Office for testing and advisement.

Mandatory Financial Aid Meeting, 1:00-2:00 pm

Cultural Arts Center
A mandatory meeting for all students receiving federal financial aid. You will receive important information. Parents, students, and family are welcome to attend this meeting. (Please attend either Saturday or Sunday session)

Parent Orientation, 3:00-4:00 pm

Cultural Arts Center
What can I expect from this new living situation for my son or daughter? What if a student becomes ill? Who do I contact if there is a family emergency? How can I check my student’s grades? Students Affairs staff will address these and other questions that parents/family members may have. (Please attend either Saturday or Sunday session)

Fun and Games, 3:00 pm

Cultural Arts Center
This is a time to meet your neighbors and new friends. Your resident advisors (RA) will give you some important information about community living, expectations, and other things that will make your home on campus more pleasant.

Movie, 8:00 pm

Cultural Arts Center
Student Government Association will have a movie with popcorn and refreshments!

   

Sunday, August 17

Church Pick-up, 8:30 am

Transportation will be provided for students to attend church services throughout the area.

Mandatory check-in for all new incoming students, update your local information and receive a ticket for the sundae buffet! Following check-in there will be speaker on the lawn by the clock tower. You will also meet with your student success instructor and get to know your new classmates!

Monday, August 18

An opportunity to learn about part-time jobs, churches, clubs and organizations, and local businesses in Colby and at CCC. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to join for lunch.
