2016 Fall Orientation

New Students

New Student Orientation is a requirement for first-time, full-time students. It is an opportunity to begin the college experience with one of the most important events of a student's academic career.  The first week of classes are packed with activities to make friends, meet faculty and staff, listen to speakers, and become familiar with campus resources.

Saturday, August 13

Airport Pick-up, 5 p.m

Students may fly into Denver International Airport on Saturday. Faculty and staff will greet students at the east terminal. The bus will arrive in Colby around 10 p.m. Please email full name and flight information to by August 13. 


LCE Check-in

Saturday, August 15

Room assignments and information will be sent by email to individual students. Move-in times are conducted by the first letter of your last name.Residence Hall Move-In, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

A-G: 8-10 a.m.
H-M: 10 a.m-noon
N-S: 1-3 p.m.
T-Z: 3-5 pm.

Offices Open, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Financial Aid, Bookstore, Student Accounts, Admissions, Registrar, IT, Student Services and Student Health

Student ID, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Student IDs will be issued in the Living Center East lobby.

Campus Tours, 10-11 a.m.

If you have not been on campus and would like a tour, please come to the Admissions Office at this time.

Pancake feed for the students.

Dining Services Open, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

All students living in the residence halls are welcome to join us in the cafeteria for brunch. Anyone not on the meal plan can enjoy a meal for only $5.95 per person.

Enrollment, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

If you are not currently enrolled in classes, please report to the Admissions Office for testing and advisement.

Parent Orientation, 1-2 p.m.

Cultural Arts Center
What can I expect from this new living situation for my son or daughter? What if a student becomes ill? Who do I contact if there is a family emergency? How can I check my student’s grades? Students Affairs staff will address these and other questions that parents/family members may have. 

Financial Aid/Student Accounts Meeting, 2-3 p.m.

Important information will be provided during the mandatory meeting for all students receiving federal financial aid. Parents, students, and family are welcome to attend this meeting.

Residence Hall Meeting, 4 p.m.

This is a time to meet your neighbors and new friends. Your resident advisors (RA) will give you some important information about community living, expectations, and other things that will make your home on campus more pleasant.

Swimming, 7 p.m

Free swimming at the Colby Aquatic Park!


Monday, August 15

Pancake Feed, starts at 7:30 a.m.

Orientation Check-in, Multi-Purpose Room
Mandatory check-in at the Student Union multi-purpose room for all new incoming students. You will update your local information and receive your name tag for Student Success Seminar. 

Guest Speaker --ALL Students 10 a.m.

Cultural Arts CenterElyse Molstad Speaking
The guest speaker is for all students. Returning students will be dismissed at the conclusion of the presentation.

Fun and Games--ALL Students, 1-3 p.m.

Multiple locations around campus

Tuesday, August 16

First Day of Classes!

Community Block Party, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.  

Outside of Student Union
An opportunity to learn about part-time jobs, churches, clubs and organizations at CCC, and local businesses in Colby. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to join us for lunch.

Bowling, 8 p.m.

Students at the Colby Bowl & Fun Center.

Colby Bowl & Fun Center (across the street from CCC)
$5.00 includes bowling, pool, and one free soda.


Wednesday, August 17

Mud Volleyball, 6:30 p.m.

Volleyball court outside Living Center East
Sign up to be on a team by Wednesday at noon. Each team should have three men and three women.Students play mud volleyball during orientation week.


Thursday, August 18

Dance in the Campus Gym, 8 p.m.
