Certificate of Completion
Small Wind Technology is one of the fastest growing technologies in the energy market. Because this program is online, it gives the student the ability to learn and work from home. Each of these online courses has a one Saturday “boot camp” that is highly recommended. However, if the student is unable to attend, an alternative assignment will be given. Each course is taught one at a time which allows the student to concentrate and retain more easily. Students can also start this program any semester including summer.
Our Boot Camps have state-of the art equipment/labs that are real-world systems (not mockups) for hands-on training. Some of the best training experiences found in this program are through our hands-on labs. Boot Camps give the student the necessary hands-on training needed to be successful in this industry.
For people wanting to change careers, become a Small Wind installer or designer, homeowners, and farm owners, this program has a course and training lab for everyone. Because this program only consists of four courses, the graduate will be quickly prepared for the Small Wind industry and his/her career!
Colby Community College was chosen as the site of one of four Regional Small Wind Test Centers to be located across the nation. In partnership with Kansas State University and Midwest Energy, the High Plains Small Wind Test Center will conduct tests on turbines at or less than 200 sq. meters swept area. Turbines will be tested for duration, power performance, safety & function, and acoustic noise emissions.
